Harvey Bakari joined the Foundation board in July 2007. He earned a B.F.A. in Fine Arts Painting and Printmaking, with a minor in Afro American Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University.  For over ten years Harvey has been involved with the historical interpretation of African American history at the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. He has been a historic site interpreter and character interpreter, program playwright, director and manager of evening programs, musician, singer, storyteller, tour guide, educational outreach program participate, trainer in pre-colonial African History, and lecturer.  Currently, he is Manager of African American History Interpretation Department, managing staff of historic interpreters and two historic sites that focus on African American history, the Peyton Randolph House and Great Hopes Plantation.
