Nelia Heide joined the Foundation board in July 2005. A former teacher with a Masters degree in Special education/Reading, Nelia is a New Jersey native, but has lived in Alaska, Nebraska, California, and Virginia. She had the opportunity while in Alaska to participate in Romper Room, a television program broadcast from 200 different cities, using a teacher from each of the cities. At 40 Nelia switched careers and entered the telecommunications industry. She retired as a Senior Account Executive at Rockwell Corporation. She is very active in the community as a member of the Woman’s Club of Williamsburg, Historic Triangle Senior Center, Christian Education Committee at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Ford’s Colony Garden Club, and Ford’s Colony Activities Committee.
