POSITION TITLE: Phillip West Memorial Cancer Resource Center Volunteer

DIVISION: Administration

SUPERVISOR: Cancer Resource Center Project Director

LENGTH OF COMMITMENT: Variable.

TIME INVOLVEMENT: Varying schedule of mornings, afternoons, evenings; weekdays and weekends. Some tasks may be done at home.

POSITION SUMMARY: Assists the Cancer Resource Center Project Director with a variety of Center tasks and programs. The purpose of these tasks is to (a) help maintain the cancer-related resources so that patrons can easily locate identify and locate materials and (b) assist in the preparation of cancer-related educational events and displays, and (c) assist in the documentation of the Center’s activities.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: 

QUALIFICATIONS: Ability and willingness to understand and carry out oral and written instructions efficiently. Ability to maintain good work habits, work under minimal supervision, follow through on numerous details and meet deadlines. Ability to work well with other volunteers, employees, and patrons. Ability to lift 25 pounds and push loaded books carts. Willingness to undergo training.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Administers work with regular walking, bending, light to medium lifting and other limited physical activities. Regular contact is made with other volunteers, employees and library patrons. Minimum age 21.
