Free access to information is a foundation of democracy. The Williamsburg Regional Library, a basic government service, provides that access through resources and programs that educate, enrich, entertain and inform every member of our community.
To support this mission, the Williamsburg Regional Library Foundation will seek both capital gifts and endowment funds. It is not the intention of the Foundation to support operating needs of the Williamsburg Regional Library that are the responsibility of local government.
The goals of the Foundation include:
1. Raising funds through individual and corporate gifts, bequests, and foundation grants with the goal of assuring continued excellence in learning and literacy.
2. Investing and managing prudently all private endowments and capital gifts to provide consistent and flexible funding for library capital and program needs which are beyond the scope of public funding, as those needs are defined by the Board of Trustees and the library’s professional leadership.
3. Ensuring funds are distributed in ways that promote innovation and vision in library services and programs.
