- About.com - Sites reviewed and selected by internet "guides", Formerly The Mining Co.
- Alta Vista - A very large search engine useful for finding specific information.
- Ask Jeeves - An easy to use "question & answer" format.
- Dogpile - A metasearch engine, Dogpile returns results from 18 different Internet search engines, including Altavista, Google and Yahoo.
- Excite - A medium sized search engine notable for its current events resources and easily accessible stock quotes.
- Google - Considered by some to provide the best ranking of search results, putting the most relevant sites at the top of the list.
- Hot Bot - Many easy-to-use search options such as image and domain limiting. Uses Direct Hit technology to rank web pages by how frequently they are selected.
- Metacrawler - Another metasearch engine.
- Netscape Search - The same search results as Excite, but with different directory listings.
- Yahoo Search - One of the most popular directories on the web. Sites are organized by topic and reviewed for content.
