The Internet can be a good source for finding news and current information. Most major papers throughout the world, and many of the smaller papers, publish electronic editions that can be read online. Many of these sites also provide online access to the papers' archives, sometimes as far back as the 1980s. http://newslink.org/ The American Journalism Review's News Link site contains links to newspapers both U.S. and worldwide. Papers can be browsed by region or type, or searched by name. News Link also provides links to magazines, arranged by topic, and to radio and television broadcast networks and broadcast stations.
http://www.ipl.org/div/news/ The Internet Public Library (IPL) Newspaper Reading Room contains links to newspapers worldwide, arranged by country, and in the U.S. by state. Papers can also be browsed by title, or searched by keyword. The IPL also has a magazine reading room (http://www.ipl.org/div/serials/) with over 2300 titles, arranged by subject.
http://www.newsdirectory.com News Directory contains links to English-language newspapers published throughout the U.S. and the world. You can browse for papers by country, and browse within the U.S. by area code. News Directory also contains links to magazines, arranged by topic and by region, as well as links to television stations in the U.S. browsable by area code. There are also links to U.S. college newspapers, newspaper archives, business newspapers, and press associations.
