About the Program
Tax-Aide is sponsored by the AARP Foundation. Expenses are paid by the Internal Revenue Service, augmented by Foundation funds. The program helps seniors and low and moderate income taxpayers of all ages. Service is on a first come, first served basis, but those over 59 years of age are given a limited priority.Counselors are volunteers who are certified annually after passing a comprehensive IRS test. They accept no gifts or gratuities for their services. They are prepared to complete all common forms and schedules for individual tax returns. Business forms will normally be limited to Schedules C-EZ, D and SE. Clients who are delinquent in the filing of returns for past years will be assisted only if they have all the required background materials available and can be helped without inconvenience to others.
