Support Services Director

- Supervises automated services, technical services (acquisitions, cataloging, processing), delivery services, and JCCL facilities maintenance.
Delivery Services Manager
Betty Watson
- Stamps, meters, labels and classifies mail according to USPS regulations
- Prepares packages and ships them via UPS, Federal Express, freight carrier, or other third party
- Records and logs all postal expenses
- Collects and transports library materials, book bins and equipment
- Empties bookdrop located at Ukrop's on a daily basis
- Purchases and delivers equipment and supplies from local sources
- Maintains library van on a daily basis
Acquisitions Manager
Cela SchmidtOrders :
- Receives and sorts orders by urgency
- Selects vendor for each item
- Orders adult and gift materials and routes Youth Services orders to Acquisitions Assistant
- Maintains Dynix acquisitions database
Funds :
- Checks invoices for discrepancies in prices, discounts, etc.
- Creates vouchers in Dynix to pay invoices, making sure that all funds are correct and routes to Finance Manager
- Tracks materials budget in Dynix, debiting and crediting as needed
Memorials and donations:
- Tracks commemorative gift funds
- Works with donors to select commemorative gift titles
- Helps manage the Adopt-a-Book program
- Corresponds with donors sending updated lists of purchased titles as requested
Reports :
- Sends monthly and bi-weekly fund reports to department heads
- Maintains desiderata list in Dynix
- Creates reports in Dynix recall module
Supervisory duties :
- Supervises and evaluates Acquisitions Assistants and Acquisitions Volunteer
Acquisitions Assistant - Orders
Hannah KinneySerials:
- Checks in Reference publications on Dynix serials module
Memorials and donations:
- Types bookplates for items in need of memorial or donation information
- Keeps records of items donated using Giftmaker Pro
Acquisitions :
- Orders new children's book and audiovisual materials
- Orders audiobook replacement tapes
Processing :
- Serves as back-up expert on processing, binding, and mending.
Acquisitions Assistant - Receiving
Susan KelleyReceiving :
- Verifies deliveries and unpacks all library materials
- Receives orders in Dynix
- Routes all items to the proper shelves for catalogers
- Receives items on standing order in Dynix
Returns :
- Returns damaged and defective items, along with items shipped in error, to the appropriate vendors
Periodicals :
- Checks in all periodicals on Dynix
- Checks condition of and processes all periodicals with WRL stamp, appropriate labels, correct date, and routing slip if necessary
- Processes claims for all missing and damaged materials
Things Catalogers Do

- Search and claim bibliographic records on OCLC
- Edit bibliographic records on Dynix (check call numbers, authors, series, subjects, physical description, contents notes and other fields)
- Edit holdings information for individual copies on Dynix (collection code, call number, price, etc.)
- Record cataloging statistics
- Change Dewey numbers when changes are made to the Dewey schedules (as time allows)
- Make changes to cataloging as requested by Adult and Youth Services Librarians
- Assist in training and overseeing staff and volunteers
- Collate cataloging and special projects statistics for departmental monthly report

Serials & Adult Non-Fiction Book Cataloger

- Creates and edits copy records and pub patterns on the Dynix serials module
- Directs the development and maintenance of the Dynix serials module
Authority & Audiovisuals Cataloger
Jeanette NaviaIn addition to the above cataloging tasks:
- Prepares original cataloging of local documents (school board meeting minutes, etc.)
- Prepares original cataloging for all items not available on OCLC
- Maintains author, subject and series authority headings, and oversees the OCLC MARS authority control project
- Creates reports in Dynix recall module
- Collates cataloging and special projects statistics for departmental monthly report
Juvenile Book Cataloger
Ann BakerIn addition to the above cataloging tasks:
- Adds a variety of collection and genre stickers to designated items
- Assists in maintaining "J" and "YA" author subject and series authority headings
Technical Services Assistant
Linda EllisAdult fiction cataloging :
In addition to the above cataloging tasks:
- Adds a variety of genre stickers to designated items
- Assists in maintaining fiction author, subject and series authority headings
Processing :
- Covers all dust jackets with Mylar covers
- Tapes the spines and inside of front and back covers of paperbacks to reinforce their bindings
- Adds label protectors over spine labels for all pre-processed hardbacks or hardbacks without dust jackets
- Stamps each item with property and date stamps at the bottom of the title page
Bindery :
- Prepares books every four weeks for shipment to the bindery each month
- Checks returned bindery orders
- Processes books received from the bindery
Mending :
- Repairs moderately damaged books
- Sends more seriously damaged items to librarians for bindery or reorder decisions
- Supervises Technical Services Volunteers
Technical Services Clerk (part time)
Sue Barton
- Receives books, a-v materials, and serials
- Creates order records for standing-order serials
- Catalogs and processes standing order serials
- Catalogs and processes the series paperback collections (both youth and adult)
- Covers and tapes new items when necessary
