Technical Services Director

  • Supervises the Technical Services staff.
  • Receives and sorts orders by urgency.
  • Selects vendors for materials purchases.
  • Orders the majority of gift, standing order, and giveaway materials.
  • Routes Adult Services, Youth Services and Bookmobile firm order selections to the TS Specialists for ordering.
  • Maintains the acquisitions database.
  • Prepares and maintains the Technical Services online Acquisitions information sites.
  • Checks invoices for discrepancies in prices, discounts, and titles.
  • Creates vouchers for invoices and routes the vouchers to the Finance Manager.
  • Creates and tracks all fund accounts in acquisitions database.
  • Creates and distributes acquisitions reports as needed.
  • Creates and tracks all commemorative gift fund accounts in the acquisitions database.
  • Works with donors and staff to select commemorative gift titles and/or subject areas.
  • Corresponds with donors, sending updated lists of purchased titles as requested.

TS Professional- Juvenile Cataloger

  • Catalogs juvenile non-fiction and juvenile audio-video materials.
  • Maintains cataloging database.
  • Authority control cataloger.
  • Prepares and maintains the Technical Services online YS cataloging information sites.
  • Prepares and maintains the Technical Services online cross-training information sites.
  • Supervises staff cataloging cross-training.

TS Professional - Adult Cataloger

  • Catalogs adult non-fiction and adult audio-visual materials.
  • Serials cataloger.
  • Prepares and maintains the Technical Services online adult cataloging information sites and online serials information sites.
  • Supervises staff cataloging cross-training.

TS Specialist

Duties include:

  • Ordering new and replacement library materials, including firm order audio materials, and video materials.
  • Creating bookplates for gift materials.
  • Recording gift information in the Giftmaker Pro database.
  • Processing, binding, and mending library materials.
  • Assisting the Technical Services Director prepare and maintain the Technical Services online information sites.
  • Unpacking and receiving all standing order serials, including travel and reference materials on the serials database.
  • Creating Orders upon receipt for monograph standing orders.
  • Receiving periodicals on the serials database, adjusting publication patterns and predictions, updating source and price records and claiming all missed serial publications.
  • Processing all serial standing order materials and periodicals.
  • Creating and maintaining routing lists for professional journals.
  • Checking in and tracking subscription standing orders.
  • Unpacking and receiving firm orders on the acquisitions database.
  • Cataloging library materials
  • Serving as the Technical Services volunteer coordinator.
  • Ordering and tracking audio replacements.
  • Serving as a cataloging cross-training instructor when necessary.
