American Library Association
In 2000 the ALA awarded the Library the prestigious Loleta D. Fyan grant to pursue an expanded Feed Me a Story project. This program brings storytimes and a snack to an area supermarket every Saturday.

Anheuser -Busch
The support of the Anheuser-Busch Companies Managers Group has been given in assistance of Library efforts.

Artipelago
Proceeds from the raffle held during the Aesthetica Art shows, organized by the local artist group Artipelago, were donated in support of children's craft programs and art scholarships at the library.

Anonymous Animal Grant support
Proceeds from a significant anonymous gift to the Williamsburg Regional Library annually fund Library materials purchases and programs related to animals.

Anonymous Virginia F. Maner PBF support
Proceeds from a significant anonymous gift to the Williamsburg Regional Library Foundation were designated to enhance the Virgina F. Maner Perpetual Book Fund which purchases mysteries for the library's collection.

Scottie and John Austin
The Austins have supported collections, programs and resource related to art and children at the library.

Susan H. and James Axtell
The Axtells established the their family Perpetual Book Fund. The Axtell Family continues to increase the value of this Perpetual Book Fund.

Bank of America [formerly NationsBank]
The Family Computer Literacy Center in the youth services area at the James City County Library was made possible through a contribution from NationsBank, now Bank of America.

Elizabeth D. Banner
 Mrs. Banner created the J. Worth Banner Perpetual Book Fund in memory of her husband. This PBF purchases a specific reference book for the library in perpetuity.

In commemoration of the opening of the James City County Library, Brodart (the book distributor that handled most of the James City County Library collection purchases) made a generous in-kind gift in the form of a significant credit for purchases made by WRL acquisitions staff.

Estate of Ila I. Brose
A frequent library user and book group participant Mrs. C E. Brose made a significant testamentary bequest in support of the Williamsburg Regional Library. Proceeds from her gift will be invested for the long-term benefit of the library.

Bruster's Old Fashion Ice Cream
The Summer Reading programs have benefitted tremendously through Bruster's very generous in-kind support of incentive prizes.

Bruton Parish Church
Bruton Parish has made several grants including support of Born to Read, a reading program the library conducts in partnership with Olde Towne Medical Center and Booked from Birth I and II, partnering programs with Williamsburg Community Hospital that provide storytimes and information for families with newborn children.

Pamela S. and Richard Burke
the Burkes have been generous supporters of the Williamsburg Regional Library Foundation.

Estate of J. Genelle Caldwell
Continuing her long history of support in life, Miss Caldwell included a bequest in her will to benefit the Library. Her contribution has funded an endowment to fund children's programs. Undoubtedly, the J. Genelle Caldwell Program room at the Williamsburg Library will be the site for many of these programs.

The Carousel
The Carousel, a local business offering clothing and accessories for infants through preteens, funded give away books for all the children (several thousand) involved with the library's summer outreach reading programs.

Louis E. Catron Living Trust
Proceeds from Dr. Catron's estate donated to the Williamsburg Regional Library Foundation were used to establish the Dr. Louis E.Catron, Professor of Theatre Emeritus, College of William and Mary Perpetual Book Fund for the purchase of fiction and theatre materials.

Mary Lewis Chapman and  Andrew Chapman
Have been generous supporters of the library, as well as Friends of Williamsburg Regional Library.

Chick-Fil-A
The Summer Reading programs have benefitted tremendously through Chick-fil-A's very generous in-kind support of incentive prizes.

Child Development Resource
Child Development Resource has supported the Mother Goose Packets which contain information on area resources and tips on caring for and educating infants. CDR also supports children's literacy programming.

Gladys and Franklin Clark Foundation
The Clark Foundation gave the Library Foundation a tremendous boost by funding the upgrade of furnishings in the renovated Williamsburg Library adult area. The Clark Foundation’s magnificent donation has provided current and future patrons with comfortable and beautiful surroundings to enjoy while visiting the public library. In recognition of this donation the Williamsburg Library's reading room is named for Gladys and Franklin Clark.

Juleigh Clark
Ms. Clark made a donation of over 50 new reference books to the library, adding reference materials that otherwise could not have been acquired.

The Clarks have been generous supporters of the Williamsburg Regional Library Foundation.

Colonial Italian American Organization
CIAO established the Colonial Italian American Organization Perpetual Book Fund. The CIAO PBF support the purchase of materials related to Italy.

Colonial Photography/Helen's Place
Resources and programs hosted by Youth Services have been enhanced tremendously through Colonial Photography's program to donate of a portion of sitting fees to benefit the library. generous in-kind support of incentive prizes.

Disabled American Veterans
The DAV supports the Beacon of Freedom Award, presented annually to an author whose work introduces American history, from Colonial times through the Civil War, to children in a historically-accurate and engaging manner.

Dominion Virginia Power
Dominion Virginia Power provided a generous grant in support of a reading program the Library conducted in partnership with Olde Towne Medical Center. The project offered a small collection of children's books for younger visitors, information on parenting techniques, storytimes and a free book for each child who participated in a storytime.

Prior to her death in May 2001 Ms. France made a significant contribution in support of the Williamsburg Regional Library. A portion of her gift will enable the Williamsburg Regional Library Foundation to acquire two sculptures by acclaimed artist Willy Ferguson (Stauton, VA) for display outside the Williamsburg Library.

Margaret W. Freeman
Mrs. Freeman established and has supported the A. Z. Freeman and Frank T.  Lendrim Perpetual Book Funds.

Friedman Family
The Herbert Friedman Library Fund was established in 1996 in memory of Dr. Friedman. Friedman Fund resources have supported the library's summer reading program, Lit Kits and children's book collection.

Friends of Williamsburg Regional Library
Friends of Williamsburg Regional Library are dedicated to making our libraries a better place for both staff and patrons. The Friends board promotes interest in our libraries by sponsoring cultural programs for the community, and providing funds for special services and grants. Through a formal grant process, The Friends of the Library currently returns about $50,000 a year to the library to support programming and to purchase materials.

Dr.
and Mrs. Griffin support the library simply as a way to express their appreciation library efforts to offer wonderful programs, films, and lectures for adults. Their gifts have funded the library's 100th anniversary celebration from 2009 to 2010, Young Adult Programs and select colections.

L. K. and E. M. Halverson Trust
Elsie Halverson and her husband supported the Williamsburg Regional Library, and others, through the generous disbursement of their estate to several local organizations. Proceeds from this gift will be invested for the long-term benefit of the library.

Patsy J. Hansel and James J. Govern
While living in the area Ms. Hansel and her husband Mr. Govern were frequent and generous supporters of the library. Besides funding several Perpetual Book Funds, they also gave a contribution that was recognized by naming the quiet study at James City County Library in memory of Ms. Hansel's father.

Nelia M. Heide
Mrs. Heide established the Walter J. Heide Perpetual Book Fund and has been a generous supporter of the Williamsburg Regional Library Foundation.

Kathy and Bruce Hornsby
Mr. and Mrs. Hornsby have supported the library foundation endowment and children's summer programs.

The Master Gardeners provided a grant to create the Children's Garden to celebrate the opening of the James City County Library in 1996. The continue to support the library with donations and the establishment of the James City County/Williamsburg Master Gardeners Perpetual Book Fund.

The Janson Family established a Perpetual Book Fund and supported the library for many years.

Junior Woman's Club of Williamsburg
The Junior Woman's Club of Williamsburg generously support children's resources and programs, including the Wheel of Reading and commemorative donations.

Grace M. Kitzinger
Mrs. Kitzinger's contribution funded an endowment to support programs hosted by the Phillip West Cancer Resource Center. The Grace and Stanley Kitzinger Community Room at the James City County Library is the site for many of these programs.

Kiwanis Club of Williamsburg
The Kiwanis Club of Williamsburg has supported school literacy programs provided by the Williamsburg Regional Library's Youth Services Librarians.

Mr. Koehler established and has supported the Marilyn June Koehler Perpetual Book Fund.

League of Women Voters of the Williamburg Area
The League has supported library programs for many years.

Helen Lee
Mrs. Lee's gifts established the Children's Book Art Collection at the Williamsburg Library. The collection is named in memory of her granddaughter, Susanne Sherville Austin, who was an aspiring artist.

Library of Virginia
Along with other programs, grants received through the Library of Virginia have supported the Feed Me a Story reading program in the Burton Woods neighborhood, Mother Goose Packets for new parents, the development of the library's Mobile Internet Learning Center (MILC), and the Electronic Community LearnIng Center (e-CLIC).

Lions Club of Williamsburg
The Lions Club of Williamsburg generously granted the library funds to create computer work stations at the Williamsburg and James City County Libraries to better serve vision impaired patrons.

Deana and Michael Maloney
Mr. and Mrs. Maloney established Perpetual Book Funds to honor family members.   They continue to support the PBFs.

Maner Family
Forbes Maner established the Virginia F. Maner Perpetual Book Fund to honor his mother, Ginna Maner, a long time Library volunteer. The Maner Family continues to increase the value of this Perpetual Book Fund.

Jack L. Massie Construction, Inc.
The Massie Family has supported Williamsburg Regional Library Summer Reading Programs and children's collections. 

McDonald Family
Eric McDonald established the Walter G. and Betty C. McDonald Perpetual Book Fund to honor his parents, Walter and Betty McDonald. The McDonald Family continues to increase the value of this Perpetual Book Fund.

Jane G. and Robert McGaw
The generosity of Mr. and Mrs. McGaw is impressive. Through their contributions the Library has created the McGaw computer room at James City County Library and the McGaw Family Computer Literacy Center at the Williamsburg Library. The library's wireless Internet access within the Williamsburg Library was made possible through the McGaw's contributions. Mr. and Mrs. McGaw also supported the Williamsburg Regional Library Foundation's Collection Endowment and the Gab Bag program.

Millbrook Press, Inc.
In 2001 the Youth Services department at the Williamsburg Regional Library received the Lee Elliott Memorial Award from Millbrook Press. This award recognized the excellence in programs and services provided by the Youth Services department and came with funding to be used toward needs in that department.

The Millimans have been generous supporters of the Williamsburg Regional Library Foundation.

The Moormans have been generous supporters of the Williamsburg Regional Library Foundation.

The Schell family have pledged their support of the library and requested that their contributions be made in memory of Mrs. Patricia Schell. In recognition, the Williamsburg Library's largest meeting room was renamed in memory of Patricia Schell.

The Schmidts have been generous supporters of the Williamsburg Regional Library.

Scholastic, Inc.
Scholastic helped to support the WRL hosted Arbuthnot Lecture in 2006.

Carol Wallace Sherman
The Shermans have supported the Library through undesignated contributions to the library's foundation as well as the establishment of a Perpetual Book Fund. Their support allows the Library Foundation board, in consultation with Library staff, the flexibility to use funds where they are most needed and also expands the materials collection through the Roger Durand Sherman Perpetual Book Fund.

Robert Sigafoes
Dr.
Sigafoes gives to the library with a generous annual gift in memory of his brother William Howard Sigafoes. His donations go toward new books for the Library collection.

School Crossing
In 1999 and 2002 Brio train tables were donated to the library by School Crossing.  These initial train tables were very popular and insipred other donors to provided updated tables once the original ones were retired.

Donna C. Sheppard
Mrs. Sheppard has been a generous supporter of the Summer Reading Program.

Sons of Confederate Veterans, Camp 2095, James City Cavalry
The Sons of Confederate Veterans donated more than 125 volumes of Virginia Regimental Histories.

Square One
In 2001 the Library received a grant from Square One through the Ready to Ready Initiative that will fund BookSmart. BookSmart provided activities that immersed children in programs that support emergent literacy. An adult component empowered parents of participants to use books with their children continuing the literacy process.

The TAFT Group
This publishing house awarded the Williamsburg Regional Library Foundation a grant to establish the precursor to the Funding Research Center at the Williamsburg Library. The Center is intended to assist area nonprofit organizations in their search for funding opportunities as well as to provide "how to" information about developing and administering a fund raising program.

Target
Target has supported community literacy and programs at the library, particularly in regard to children.

Gail T. and Anthony J. Taylor
The Taylors established the Dr. George J. Chohany Perpetual Book Fund and have been generous supporters of the Williamsburg Regional Library Foundation.

The Teaching Company
The Teaching Company contributed numerous new teaching lectures to the library's collection in 2003.

Ukrop's Monticello Marketplace
The Summer Reading programs benefitted tremendously through Ukrop’s generous in-kind support of incentive prizes.

Verizon Foundation
Verizon Foundation grant support of the Mobile Internet Learning Center (MILC) -- MILC, Delivered by Verizon -- advanced a WRL initiative to deliver electronic resources to areas of the community that do not have access to such information, using a laptop server and four laptop clients and satellite technology. Verizon supports the Wheel of Reading each summer, as well.

Virginia Commission for the Arts
the Virginia Commission has supported library programming.

Members of the Walecka family give to the Library with a generous annual gift in memory of James Dirk Walecka. Their donations go toward new books for the Library collection.

Mary Lou Walten
Mrs. Walten established and has supported the Max. G. Walten M.D. Perpetual Book Fund.

Weavers of the Word
The Weavers established and have supported the Weavers of the Word Perpetual Book Fund.

In memory of Phillip West
To improve access to cancer-related information, Mr. West's family has donated funds to develop the Phillip West Memorial Cancer Resource Center, located in both buildings of the Williamsburg Regional Library. To foster community-wide support, the Center has developed as a partnering project between the Sentara Williamsburg Community Hospital and the Williamsburg Regional Library.

WGBH Educational Foundation
WGBH awarded the Library an Arthur's Adventure grant to create an innovative program building on the popularity of the Arthur books and television series. WRL, partnering with WHRO-TV and Williamsburg Community Hospital will do a series of storytimes modeling the use of books with young children at the Siblings Tours of the Maternal Health Center. Each sibling will receive a copy of Arthur's Baby and parents will get an Arthur board book.

Williamsburg Area Arts Commission
The Arts Commission has supported author/illustrator visits to the schools and the library, art shows, and Looking to Learn.

Williamsburg Community Health Foundation
The Williamsburg Community Health Foundation established a Perpetual Book Fund that endows the Funding Research Center at the Williamsburg Regional Library. Resources for this Center assist area nonprofit organizations in their search for funding opportunities as well as to provide "how to" information about developing and administering a fund raising program.

Williamsburg Dental Group
Dr.

The Williamsburg Regional Library Foundation is steward of the endowments that annually support Library programs and materials enhancement. Through Perpetual Book Funds, endowment income and occasion grants, the Foundation continues to work toward fulfilling the needs of library users.
