The 2014 Botanical Art Exhibit represents the work of Juliet Kirby, TCAG member artist, and her students from the gallery and Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden in Richmond were she teaches. There are 49 pieces of artwork in watercolor, pen & ink and colored pencil. In this exhibit you will see a diverse collection of flora, mostly what has caught the eye or the interest of each artist. Botanical art has been created for hundreds of years, first for medicinal plants, second to bring back records of the treasures found in newly discovered countries as travel became easier, third, to create beautiful collector's books and currently to educate the public about the botanical world or to alert them to the necessity of preserving the fragile existence of our native plants. The exhibit will be on display in the gallery until April 30, 2014.
