Celtic Film Series - "The Guard"

Series: Celtic Film Series

The 13th season of the Williamsburg Regional Library Celtic Film Series opens with the 2011, R-rated black comedy, “The Guard.”  It's an irreverent fish-out-of-water tale about a rural Irish policeman (Brendan Gleeson) who pairs with a straitlaced FBI agent (Don Cheadle) to bring down international drug smugglers.  (Rated R for drug and sexual elements, pervasive language)

This season’s films are dedicated to the memory of W&M emeritus professor of English and former WRL Board member Jack Willis, who introduced many of the Celtic films from the inception of the series.

Williamsburg Regional Library presents the Celtic Film Series in cooperation with the local chapter of the Ancient Order of Hibernians.  The series explores the history, drama and quirky humor of films made in or about Ireland.
