DIY/FIY Youth Filmmaking event

The William and Mary Global Film Festival (WMGFF) announces its 2014 Student Short Film Competition and the second annual “DIY/FIY” (Do-It-Young/Film-It-Yourself) Youth Filmmaking Project.

Workshop participants will work with W&M film students in hands-on exercises. They’ll learn about developing a film story, planning a film shoot, and ways to get the best results when filming.  They will also have opportunities to try out different kinds of cameras and learn about filmmaking resources.
The workshop is free of charge, however registration is encouraged at http://filmfestival.wm.edu/.

The DIY/FIY competition features short films made by students of all ages.  Selected films will be screened in competition at the Kimball Theater as part of the 2014 W&M Global Film Festival held on President’s Day Weekend, 2014.
