Toward the end of World War II, the inhabitants of a Tuscan village are struggling against Nazi persecution.  When they learn that the Nazis, with the support of the local Italian fascists, are going to blow up many of the buildings in the village in reprisal for Italian partisan activities in the area, a group of residents decide to flee the village in search of the partisans and the advancing American forces.  Directed by Paolo and Vittorio Taviani and starring Omero Antonutti and Magarita Lozano.    

In Italian with English subtitles.
