Jimmy Masters Quartet

Series: Dewey Decibel Concerts

Jimmy Masters has been the first call bassist in Hampton Roads for the better part of the last 25 years, and is no stranger to the Williamsburg Library.

He has played with numerous jazz luminaries over the years...saxophonists Steve Wilson, Rich Perry, Frank Morgan, Gary Thomas, and Ken Peplowski; pianists Fred Hersch, Kenny Drew Jr., Mulgrew Miller, Cyrus Chestnut and James Williams; vibraphonist Joe Locke; harmonica great Howard Levy; vocalists Kurt Elling, Jon Hendricks, Sheila Jordan and Chris Connor; and many others.

He brings a stellar quartet to the Williamsburg Library Theater for this special show, a CD release concert featuring music from When Trees Speak, Jimmy's first CD release as a leader. The band features saxophonist JC Kuhl, pianist Justin Kauflin (fresh off his international tour with Quincy Jones), and drummer Brian Jones. The show will also feature a special guest, singer/songwriter Mary Lou Osterhous on acoustic guitar and vocals. You won't want to miss this special evening of great jazz.
