Mai Dang Lao - a play reading
Panglossian Productions presents a developmental reading of David Jacobi's MAI DANG LAO, free to the public. No tickets or reservations are needed.
MAI DANG LAO is a drama loosely based on the events which lead to Ogborn vs. McDonalds Corp. in 2009. McDonalds employee Sophie plans to quit her job to move on to better things, much to the dismay of her fellow employees. However, when McDonalds manager receives a prank phone call from a man posing as a police detective, Sophie is placed under citizen's arrest by her superiors. MAI DANG LAO explores themes of conformity and liberation in a unique, experimental style.
David Jacobi's plays have been produced throughout the U.S. and in Beijing, China. He received a BFA in Dramatic Writing from Purchase College, has served as guest lecturer at Clemson University, and is preparing to attend UCSD’s MFA Playwriting program in the fall of 2012 under Naomi Iizuka. David is a WordBRIDGE alum, as well as a winner of the “Judges’ Choice” award at BINSPF 2011. David is co-founder of Monster Down! Theatre Company, a collaborative theatre group in Beijing, China.
NOTE: MAI DANG LAO contains strong adult langue and situations.
