Pixelated Portraits of Personalities

This exhibit includes computer-generated art portraits of iconic celebrities and notable personalities created by graphics artist John (Jack) T. Batina of J-graf-X from James City County.  The portraits are digitally constructed using a unique artistic computer processing technique beginning with a photographic image and ending with a digital sketch, rich in pixels, overlaying a background coloring or other digital image chosen appropriate to the subject.

Included in the exhibit are patriotic portraits of aviation and space pioneers ranging from the Wright Brothers, Glenn Curtiss, Samuel P. Langley, and Charles A. Lindbergh to astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin;

Notable historical and political figures range from American presidents Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan to Queen Elizabeth II, Gandhi, and Pope John Paul II;

Legendary musicians and entertainers displayed include the Beatles, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison of the Doors, Bob Dylan, Carlos Santana, and Michael Jackson to older artists such as Elvis Presley, Louis Armstrong and Frank Sinatra;

Celebrated individuals from the sports world and movie industry include Babe Ruth, golfers Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, to actors John Wayne, Marilyn Monroe, Jack Nicholson, Clint Eastwood; and many others.
