William and Mary Global Film Pre-Festival

The 2013 W&M Global Film Festival theme - Film and Youth - will be introduced through a pre-festival series of Wednesday night film screenings at the Williamsburg Library Theatre running January 16 - February 13, starting at 6:30pm.  The series is free and open to the public (no ticket required) and is part of a 1-credit W&M Film Studies course designed in conjunction with the festival. The series will feature youth-related films from Senegal, Spain, Chile, New Zealand, Russia and Japan, and each will be introduced with a brief presentation by a W&M faculty member.  Visit filmfestival.wm.edu for complete schedule and details.

This is Us: Stories from Senegalese Youth (2010 / USA-Senegal / 32m)
A documentary project created by an American college student filmmaker. Senegalese youths write, film and narrate stories about their daily lives, hopes and challenges.

In this fiction film, a European director is making a film with children from a social center in Tangiers. Because of his methods, his relationship with the children during shooting degenerate and transform the evolution of the project.
