Streaming video

As of 10/1/2014, we will be discontinuing our streaming video collection. We will continue to explore better options to bring current streaming video content to library users in the coming year.

Through a grant from Friends of Williamsburg Regional Library, we are excited to offer a collection of streaming video that includes both films and TV shows, available to view on computers, Internet TVs, or with the app on mobile devices (both iOS and Android).

  • On a computer, go to and use your library card to login and browse for movies by type--comedy, drama, musicals, etc. When you find a film you like, click the Stream Now button. The film will start playing. You can go back to your films by clicking the My Account link at
  • On a mobile device, download and install the Freegal Movies and Television app from the app store, login with your library card, browse the collection and click Stream Now to start watching.

Please note: Since this is a streaming service, you will need to be connected to the Internet to view films or shows.

Adult library card holders can stream three films or TV episodes each week. You can watch the show or film as much as you like for 48 hours before it is automatically returned. Once you have watched a film or TV episode, it will not be available again for 6 months.

If you have questions, please call the reference desk at 757.259.7720, or use our live chat service during library hours.
