Williamsburg Library Schedule
Based on Addition/Renovation PhasingFall 1997 -
Selected items from the Williamsburg Library juvenile and adult collections are moved to the James City County Library
Around Mid-December 1997 -
Williamsburg Library existing adult services closes for renovations; a limited selection of circulating materials from the adult collection is moved into the "new" adult area (that is created by the new construction). Remaining adult circulating collection is accessible neither to staff nor to patrons until after renovation.
Check-in and check-out move to their permanent location in a new part of the library.
Staff relocate to new workspaces for check-in and check-out, reference and administration.
Theatre, gallery and meeting rooms remain open for public use.
January 1998 -
The "new" adult area opens for public use. Full-service reference is available, including expanded electronic resource capabilities. Existing adult area, with most of the adult collection, is closed for renovations.
Check-out is located at the new entrance area, which may be open, depending on what happens with work on the parking/plaza on the parking lot side of the library. Access is definately available through the Scotland Street entrance.
Theatre, gallery and new meeting room A are open for public use.
Sometime in March 1998 -
Renovated adult area reopens for public use. Entire "new" and "old" Williamsburg Library adult areas are open, and entire Williamsburg Library adult collection is again accessible to the public.
Youth services area closes; the "WRL Kids' Book X-press" opens at the Williamsburg Shopping Center.
Sometime in April or May 1998 -
Renovated youth services reopens for public use.
Entire expanded / renovated Williamsburg Library is open and it will be time for a re-dedication. (depending on the parking situation)
