Grand Opening Celebration - Nov. 18, 2000
e-CLIC: Electronic Community Resource Center

Please join us at the James City County Library on Saturday, November 18
at 10:00 a.m, when we open the new Electronic Community Learning Center
("e-CLIC"). Senator Tommy Norment and delegate George Grayson will be present for the ceremony and will briefly speak.
The Williamsburg Regional Library's new e-CLIC center, housed at the James City County Library, is designed to enhance citizens' abilities to understand and use the information technology of today and tomorrow.

Comprised of seven new PCs with full T-1 Internet connections, ink-jet printers, software, projector and smart board for instructor use, the center provides an intimate classroom setting for computer training and Internet access.

Available software programs include:

Windows 98 Second Edition, Internet Explorer 5.5, Netscape Navigator 4.08, Acrobat Reader 4.0, FamilySearch Database, Microsoft Word 2000, Microsoft Excel 2000, Microsoft PowerPoint 2000, Microsoft FrontPage 2000, The WRL Online Catalog, Corel WordPerfect 9, Corel Presentations 9, Corel Paradox 9, Corel Quattro Pro 9

Library-sponsored and non-profit educational classes will receive priority scheduling for the e-CLIC center. Other groups will be scheduled as the room is available. (Nominal fees for all groups will apply.) Through the end of the year, classroom time will be limited to library-sponsored training to allow staff time to assess community interest and refine the center's equipment. e-CLIC will be open for the scheduling by community and private groups in January 2001.

Classes scheduled for December in the e-CLIC room:

Friday, December 8, 2000, 2:30-3:30 pm -- Basic Internet Training
Wednesday, December 13, 2000, 10:00-11:00 am -- Online Catalog Training

Classes are open to all. Reservations are recommended. Sign up at the
Reference Desk or call 259-4050.

Questions about the e-CLIC center may be directed to 259-7720.
