Don Winslow's multimedia play is derived largely from Hamilton's own words. While actors playing various figures - Washington, Jefferson, John Adams - appear on a screen in videotaped sequences, the stage belongs to an actor who portrays Hamilton and an actress who plays the three most important women in his life.
Followed by - Alexander Hamilton - From New York: A Documentary Film (unrated, 20 minutes) Perhaps more than anyone else, Alexander Hamilton was responsible for transforming New York City into the business and financial capital of the country. Errol Flynn makes a superb Robin Hood in this classic swashbuckler about the outlaw hero of Sherwood Forest.  Robin and his band of Merry Men take up arms to oppose the tyrannical rule of evil Prince John and his henchman Sir Guy of Gisbourne (Basil Rathbone).  This Technicolor delight costars Olivia de Havilland and was directed by Michael Curtiz.

In the late 1860s a professor (Paul Lukas), his aide (Peter Lorre), and a sailor (Kirk Douglas) go in search of a sea monster that is wreaking havoc on naval vessels.  What they find instead is the magnificent submarine Nautilis and its creator, the enigmatic Captain Nemo (James Mason).  This Disney classic, based on the novel by Jules Verne, was the studio's first live-action film. - FREE

September 1775 - as the American colonies were wrestling with the idea of independence, a killer storm swept up the east coast.  The unnamed hurricane killed 4000 people, disrupted trade, and destroyed crops.  How did the storm influence public opinion before the Revolution?  Williamsburg author Tony Williams traces its effects in Hurricane of Independence, which he will discuss on August 21.  Copies of his book will be available for purchase. - FREE

The hills are alive with the sound of Julie Andrews' beautiful singing and the music of Rodgers and Hammerstein in this delightful musical set in scenic Salzburg.  Andrews plays a perky governess who finds romance with the stern father (Christopher Plummer) of her young charges.  However, their happiness is overshadowed by the impending German Anschluss of Austria that preceeded the Second World War. - FREE
