Celtic Film - The Conflict (Catholics) (rated R, 1973) - 7:00 p.m. - WL Theatre
This story centers around a group of Irish monks who firmly believe that the Mass should be said in Latin as it was when Rome first became Christian. These monks are willing to defy the Pope to preserve the Faith even if their own faith has failed them. Stars Trevor Howard, Martin Sheen and Cyril Cusack.  The film will be introduced by Dr. Jack Willis, professor Emeritus of English at William and Mary.  The Library presents the Celtic Film Series in cooperation with the local chapters of the St. Andrews Society and the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians. The series explores the history, drama and quirky humor of films made in or about Scotland and Ireland. - FREE

Nick and Nora Charles (William Powell, Myrna Loy) are back for more sophisticated sleuthing in this 5th installment of the excellent Thin Man series. A visit to his hometown proves anything but relaxing for Nick whose father has long disapproved of his son’s chosen profession. But then a body shows up on the family doorstep giving Nick a chance to impress the old man by solving the case and catching the killer. - FREE

Talk: A River in the Ocean - 7:00 p.m. - JCCL Kitzinger Community Room
Benjamin Franklin drew the first map of the Gulf Stream, knowing that it aided ship travel to and from Europe - an important consideration when he was a deputy postmaster for the British colonies. Dr. Deborah Steinberg, a biological oceanographer from the Virginia Institute of Marine Science, talks about how ocean currents like the Gulf Stream affect the biology of the oceans today. Part of "Benjamin Franklin: A Search for a Better World."

Calling all fairy lovers! Meet Diana Zimmerman, author of Kandide and the Secret of the Mists. The fun starts at 10:00 a.m. Families are invited to participate in a scavenger hunt in Colonial Williamsburg to look for photos of fairy houses. Children participating in the scavenger hunt will receive a coupon for a small ice cream from Retros. Families who complete the hunt will be entered into a drawing for copies of Kandide. Diana Zimmerman will speak in the WL Theatre at 1:00 p.m. Door prizes will include some tickets for FaerieCon in Maryland. Ms. Zimmerman will be autographing her books following her program. Join us for lots of fairy fun!

A Glass Armonica Family Concert - 11:00 a.m. - WL Theatre
Local musician Dean Shostak presents a special concert for families featuring Benjamin Franklin's musical invention, the Glass Armonica. Children and adults will learn how to make sound with their fingers, a little water and the rim of a glass.
