Thursday Afternoon Films - South Pacific (unrated, 1958) - 2:00 p.m. - WL Theatre
Rodgers & Hammerstein's Broadway hit about romance and racism on a tropic isle during World War II is based on James Michener's Pulitzer Prize winning book of short stories, Tales From the South Pacific. The musical score is outstanding with classic songs such as "Some Enchanted Evening," "Younger than Springtime" and "Bali H'ai." Rossano Brazzi, Mitzi Gaynore and Juanita Hall star under the direction of Joshua Logan. - FREE

Williamsburg Landing Art Group Exhibit Opening Reception - 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. - WL Gallery
The WLAG is a group of nine artists working in either watercolor or water soluble oils under the guidance of local artist Lynn Hosegood. Their subject matter ranges from portraits to flowers, still lifes and paintings reflecting members' travels. The group, which is open to everyone, meets once a week at the Williamsburg Landing Wellness Center and stages an art exhibit at the Landing once a year.

David Lean's beautifully photographed, sweeping epic of star-crossed love during the Russian Revolution was nominated for 10 Academy Awards. Zhivago (Omar Shariff), a doctor and poet, loves his wife but is compulsively drawn to his mistress and muse Lara (Julie Christie) as Russia is beset by war and revolution. The film is based on Boris Pasternak's novel, which won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1958. - FREE

3rd Thursdays @ Your Library: Celebrate the Moon Walk of July 20, 1969 - 7:00 p.m. - WL Schell Room
The first trip to the moon is one of humanity's greatest accomplishments. On this night Richard Brown of NASA Langley Research Center will tell us stories about that famous day and the events leading up to it. Learn more about the astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins, the Apollo Missions, and NASA's work in the program. While celebrating America's past achievements in space, we will also hear about NASA's current Exploration Program and plans for a return to the moon. - FREE
