WRL Youth Art Show 2023 exhibit

WRL invites middle school and high school students in James City County, York County, and the City of Williamsburg to participate in the WRL Youth Art Show taking place in March 2023! Join WRL in celebrating youth art and creativity in our community by submitting one work of art of any size. Any media type is eligible, but the artwork must be easily mounted to a wall. Cash prizes will be awarded for: first place middle school entry, first place high school entry, and one Best in Show. Entries will be displayed publicly at the WRL Gallery at Stryker Center in Williamsburg between March 1 and March 31. All participants and family members are invited to a special artist reception at Stryker Center from 4 to 6 pm on March 11. Prizes will be announced at the reception.

SUBMISSION & DEADLINE

Starting December 27, drop off one hangable artwork to the children’s department at either WRL building or to the Bookmobile no later than Monday, February 20. Only one entry per student. All work must be original interpretations by the artist. Fill out the online form to participate. Artwork will not be accepted without a form. All entrants are welcomed to attend the artist reception. Prizes will be announced at the reception. Art must be picked up from the Stryker Center between April 3 and April 7, from 9 am to 5 pm.

Artist reception

All participants and family members are invited to a special artist reception at Stryker Center from 4 to 6 pm on March 11. No tickets required. Prizes will be announced at the reception. Light refreshments will be served.

ART EXHIBITION

All art submitted within guidelines and by deadline will be displayed to the public in the WRL Gallery at Stryker Center, 412 N. Boundary St. in Williamsburg, from March 1-31. Images may be used in WRL promotional material unless the artist indicates otherwise.

Note: WRL staff will curate the exhibit, and some submissions may not be selected for display. By signing the permission form, you are agreeing to allow your child’s work to be displayed at the WRL art event listed above. WRL is not responsible for lost or damaged work.
