Digital Memory Lab setup

The Digital Memory Lab is a mobile tech station that provides a self-service way to transfer pictures, 35mm slides, and video to digital. NOTE: This service is only available at the Williamsburg Library on Scotland Street.

This service digitizes various audio/visual media formats including:

  • Audio cassettes
  • VHS-C
  • Hi8 video tape
  • 8mm and Super 8 film reels
  • Photos
  • Negatives
  • 35mm slides
  • Documents

Users should bring a USB thumb drive to put their files on to take home (WRL also sells USB thumb drives at the Circulation desk for $5+tax). We do not extract from or burn to CD or DVD.

Users can make 3-hour appointments for the Digital Memory Lab (not required to use the entire three hours). A staff member will give a brief orientation & are available throughout for questions. Users need to sign a one-time usage agreement in order to use the Digital Memory Lab. For more information, call Program Services at 757.741.3300 option 3.
