Join us to celebrate the contributions of community leaders, Dr J. Blaine Blayton and Mrs. Bessie Gerst, who were honored by the community through a collaborative art and oral history project during The Village Initiative’s 2022 Juneteenth Freedom Celebration. This exhibit is the result of a partnership between The Village Initiative’s Local Black Histories Project and William & Mary Distinguished Artist, Steve Prince. The exhibit showcases Dr. Blayton and Mrs. Gerst’s contributions through oral history and art created by the community.
