Lemon’s Legacies Porch Talk: Get to Know the WJCC Coalition for Community Justice
May 3 @ 6:00 pm
In its 2020 special session, the General Assembly of Virginia passed legislation empowering civilian oversight boards, emphasizing that these boards are an important step in police reform for localities. Experts on policing concur that independent community oversight boards are an important measure in fostering accountability and transparency. Since that time, the WJCC Coalition for Community Justice has organized to ensure that justice and equity for all people in every aspect of the criminal legal system is realized in Williamsburg and James City County. Community members will have the opportunity to submit questions about this project.
Williamsburg Regional Library is proud to collaborate with The Lemon Project at the College of William & Mary to bring you this special series of talks. Topics will range widely and include African Americans’ contributions to the College and Williamsburg community, and more. All talks are virtual and require advanced registration. See each individual program for specific dates, times, and recommended reading, or view the Lemon Project calendar for the full schedule.
