Join us for back-to-back showings of some great Academy Award for Best Picture winners of the past as we prepare for the Oscar Ceremony this weekend. 

  Wings (1929), 9 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

The very first Best Picture winner and one of only two silent films to win, this WWI military drama follows two young American pilots and a nurse as they experience the dangers of the Western Front firsthand. Directed by William A. Wellman, starring Charles Rogers, Richard Arlen, and Clara Bow. NR 

  The Apartment (1960), 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

This workplace comedy follows an insurance clerk who, hoping to climb the corporate ladder, lets more senior coworkers use his Upper West Side apartment for secret romantic trysts. Complications arise when he falls for his boss’s new girlfriend. Directed by Billy Wilder, starring Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine. NR 

  Chicago (2002), 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

This black comedy musical crime film was based on the 1975 stage musical of the same name, and catapulted big budget musical films back into relevance again. Two women seek to get away with murder, and perhaps earn fame and fortune for themselves in the process. Directed by Rob Marshall, starring Renée Zellweger and Catherine Zeta-Jones. PG-13 

  The Shape of Water (2017), 3:30 – 5:30 p.m.

A romantic fantasy set in the 1960s. A mute young woman working at a top-secret research facility falls in love with the river monster held captive there and forms a desperate plan to help him escape. Directed by Guillermo del Toro, starring Sally Hawkins and Doug Jones. R
