

Power in the Panels: A Graphic Novel Book Group

Power in the Panels meets on the second Thursday of every month. This group is for graphic novel enthusiasts (18+, please) who want to read and talk about independent graphic novels.
April 13: Let’s discuss zombies and the apocalypse with Tillie Walden’s newest titled “Clementine: Book One”!
May 11: Join us for a fascinating non-fiction title “The Body Factory” by Héloïse Chochois, where we will learn all about the history of amputation and prosthetics by journeying with a young man coming to terms with his new body.
June 8: Take a side visit with us into the world of Hellboy as we discuss Mike Mignola’s “The Visitor: How and Why He Stayed”. Copies available digitally via https://wrl.overdrive.com/.
July 13: Join us as we discuss the webcomic turned book “Nimona” by ND Stevenson. Copies available for physical checkout and digitally via https://wrl.overdrive.com/.
August 10: For August we will be delving into the webcomic “Lackadaisy” which can be read online at https://lackadaisy.com/comic.php?comicid=1.
September 14: September’s title is another webcomic titled “Ava’s Demon” which can be read online at https://www.avasdemon.com/
October 12: October’s title is “M is for Monster” by Talia Dutton. When Doctor Frances Ai’s younger sister Maura died in a tragic accident six months ago, Frances swore she would bring her back to life. However, the creature that rises from the slab is clearly not Maura.
November 9: In celebration of the Netflix series, we will be reading “One Piece, Vol. 1: Romance Dawn”. Copies are available for checkout and download through the Libby app.
December 14: For December we will be watching the first episode of “One Piece” and comparing it to our reading done in November.
