This month we’re discussing Out There: The Wildest Stories from Outside Magazine. Sample some tales of odd obsessions, unlikely travel destinations, and fringe athletes from a magazine whose contributors have been a “who’s who” of great narrative nonfiction since the 1970s. From touring Chernobyl to piloting the “poop boat” for Grand Canyon rafters, from Quidditch matches to Mongolian horse races, writers like David Quammen, Susan Orlean, and Tim Cahill find the offbeat in the outdoors.
