Now in its 19th year, the Throwback Thursday Film Series screens a variety of classic and contemporary movies for an adult audience. All films are shown in the Williamsburg Library Theatre.  

October’s theme: The Lady is a Spy

This espionage thriller tells the true stories of three female British spies who engaged in sabotage operations in France during the Second World War. The film stars Sarah Megan Thomas, Stana Katic, and Radhika Apte. PG-13 2hr 3min

October 13, 2:00-3:45 PM: Fathom (1967) 

Raquel Welch plays a dental assistant/skydiver in a lime-green bikini who is recruited by an intelligence agency to retrieve an atomic device from enemy agents in a light-hearted spy film that could only have come from the 1960s. NR 1hr 39min

October 20, 2:00-4:05 PM: Charlotte Gray (2001) 

Cate Blanchett plays a young Scottish woman who becomes a courier for the French Resistance during World War II in an effort to locate her missing RAF lover. James Fleet and Abigail Cruttenden costar under the direction of Gillian Armstrong. PG-13 2hr 1min

October 27, 2:00-4:05 PM: The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996) 

Renny Harlin directed this fast-paced thriller about a suburban housewife with amnesia (Geena Davis) whose past as a lethal secret agent threatens her new life. Samuel L. Jackson plays a low-rent detective who gets caught up in the action. R 2hr 1min
