Now in its 19th year, the Thursday Afternoon Film Series screens a variety of classic and contemporary movies for an adult audience.
January Theme: New Year, New Beginnings
January 6: A Good Year (2006), 2-4 p.m.
- Russell Crowe plays a ruthless stock market trader who finds love and a better life when he inherits a vineyard in Provence in this scenic romantic comedy directed by Ridley Scott. PG-13
January 13: Dodsworth (1936), 2-3:45 p.m.
- A European vacation disrupts the marriage of a retired businessman (Walter Huston) and his status-hungry wife in this sophisticated drama based on the novel by Sinclair Lewis. Mary Astor & David Niven costar under the direction of William Wyler. NR
January 20: Brooklyn (2015), 2-4:00 p.m.
- In 1950s era New York City, a young Irish immigrant (Saoirse Ronan) must choose between her new life and the one she left behind when family obligations compel her to return home. PG-13
January 27: Lost in America (1985), 2-3:35 p.m.
- A disgruntled yuppie couple’s plans to quit their jobs and tour America in a Winnebago go stupendously wrong in this low-key, satirical comedy. Albert Brooks wrote, directed, and starred in the film with Julie Hagerty playing his sweet-natured wife. R
