Turning Pages: A Contemporary Book Club
November 16 @ 6:45 pm
This month we’re discussing Americanon, by Jess McHugh. How was our vision of a “good American” created? Jess McHugh looks at 13 books from American history and the lessons they taught us. Titles such as The Old Farmer’s Almanac, McGuffey Readers, and Betty Crocker’s Picture Cook Book, among others, showed a vision of an ideal America, and we responded by turning them into mega-bestsellers.
Turning Pages explores classic and contemporary fiction and nonfiction from around the world. This group will sample critically acclaimed and prize-winning titles with open and inclusive discussion.
