This month we’re discussing The Quiet American by Graham Greene. A jaded British reporter in early 50s Vietnam recounts his experiences with a murdered American whom the reporter grudgingly befriended. The two men clashed over the country’s future and their relationships with the reporter’s mistress, which makes him a suspect in a murder. Both a mystery and a character study of the two men, this is considered Graham Greene’s finest novel.
