Valarie Gray Holmes has written and performed in a variety of productions with particular focus on the contributions of the enslaved and free African American women. Based on strong research, Valarie portrays these women with dignity and complexity, rising above the horrors of enslavement. She has a B.A. in marketing from Hampton University and a M. F. A. in performing arts from Regents University. She received the prestigious Women in American History Award from the Williamsburg Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Her presentation on “Angela” was featured in local state and national media, including USA Today and the Washington Post.
