Local governments provide funding to cover Williamsburg Regional Library's (WRL) capital and operating expenses while the Friends of WRL Foundation invite philanthropic support.
The Friends of WRL Foundation (a 501(c)(3) nonprofit) was formed through the merger of the library Friends and the Foundation groups. It has its own Board of Directors and accounts. The FWRLF does not aim to replace local government funding but rather to augment it. In the last six years, the Foundation has received gifts and pledges of nearly $650,000 on behalf of the library. These funds are used to add to our library’s collections, enhance programs, and support services and facilities.
