Juneteenth Awareness Storytime & Walk

Ms. Opal Lee will read her children’s book Juneteenth and invite us to join her on a 2.5 mile segment of her National Walk through Williamsburg’s historically Black neighborhoods, ending at First Baptist Church to ring the Freedom Bell.

Ms. Lee is the 92 year old winner of The Distinguished Service Award from the 400 Years of African-American History Commission, and she is walking across the country to make Juneteenth a national holiday. For more information about her walk, go to www.opalswalk2dc.com.

A reception with light refreshments will follow.
