The library is more than books!

WRL has non-traditional collections that provide options to use items beyond just books, DVDs, and CDs. Donate and take home seeds from WRL’s Seed Exchange, or borrow games, puzzles, and more from our Learning to Go collection. Why buy something and store it if you can just pick it up at the library?

Learning to Go items

Learning to Go

Our Learning to Go collection has puzzles, games, craft tools, toys, and tech for all ages — everything from Scrabble to Spheros. Most items check out for a week, and all can be put on hold and renewed. You can check out as many Learning to Go kits as you’d like, up to your account limit.

Click the button below to see the collection in the catalog. You can also browse our Learning to Go wall at either library building.

What is a Seed Exchange?

The WRL Seed Exchange is a collection of seeds and plant cuttings made freely available to the public for home gardens. The Seed Exchange is available at the James City County Library during regular hours.

What kind of seeds are available?

A variety of seeds and plant cuttings will be available at the WRL Seed Exchange. Each seed packet will have a description of the plant and care instructions. Please take no more than one packet or cutting per visit. Help keep the project growing by donating seeds and cuttings along with growing instructions to the Seed Exchange.
