This month we'll be discussing Touch. Trend forecaster Sloane Jacobsen is expert in telling companies what consumers want, years before the consumers themselves even know. Hired by a conglomerate to put together a conference celebrating childlessness (Sloane herself is famously against having kids), she discovers in her own life and in the society around her that what people want isn't necessarily what the company wants to sell.
We'll also start distributing copies of There There, our January read. (We'll be meeting January 13th, since the library will be closed January 20th for the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.)
Novel Ideas is a librarian-led exploration of classic and contemporary fiction and non-fiction from around the world. This wide-ranging group will sample critically acclaimed and prize-winning titles with open and inclusive discussion aimed at engaging readers with the book and with each other.
